This is a paper edition of the first lecture volume in the Ruffin Series in Business Ethics published in 1991. The book derives from lectures given at the University of Virginia in April 1988 by four business ethicists: Norman Nowlem, Kenneth Goodpaster, Thomas Donaldson, and Ezra Bowen. The book is organized into four parts, each begun by the lecture, and followed by individual papers that developed ideas introduced by the lecturers.
